Do I need to be a really high standard to join? -top-
No, absolutely not, we welcome people of all abilities.

How much is it to join and how do I join? -top-
There is an annual fee of £10. Please see the link on the home page to join.

How much are the swimming sessions?-top-
Swimming sessions are £2 per session.

Do I need to let anyone know I’m coming? -top-
No, both adults and junior members just turn up at any of our sessions 10-15 minutes before the session is due to start.

Do you provide coaches? -top-
Yes, we provide coaches for all disciplines and if necessary one to one coaching.

Do you hold an open water swimming session? -top-
Yes, during the warmer months, see club training sessions section.

I work off shore what can I do while I’m at work? -top-
Our coaches will provide you with training plans that you can do whilst at work.

Do you hold bike sessions? -top-
See club training session section of the website.

Do I have to be a member to join in with the bike sessions? -top-
Whilst you do not have to join to go out cycling on a Sunday morning we can not guarantee that fellow cyclists will be there when there are events on.

Do you hold running sessions? -top-
We do running training at St Bede’s school, see the club training sessions on the website.

I’m disabled can I join? -top-
Yes, we now have an AWAD qualified coach's.

I can’t make the swimming sessions, can I still join for the other benefits? -top-
Yes, you can still join and take part in all other activities.

What are the benefits of joining? -top-
You receive free high level coaching each session.
You will receive advice on competing in events, what equipment and kit you need etc.
You receive a £10 discount when you join British Triathlon.
The swim sessions are cheaper than a normal session.
We hold a members training weekend.
We have many social occasions throughout the year.

What are the competing rules? -top-
All our Triathlon's are run under the British Triathlon Federation Rules, see website for full set of rules. Make sure you are familiar with them before competing.

Adult Training Sessions - What should I bring (St Bede's)? -top-
All clothing required for swimming and running.

Adult Training Sessions - What if it is raining? -top-
Sessions are adapted to the weather conditions.

Adult Training Sessions - Do I need to be a club member? -top-
You are welcome to have a free trial but we do need you to join after this for insurance purposes.

Adult Training Sessions - Do I need to be able to take part in all disciplines? -top-
No, you can join in with whatever you can manage. No pressure is put on anyone, just do what you can.

Adult Training Duathlons - What kind of bike do I need? -top-
Basically as long as it has two wheels and is road safe you can use any bike. Most people start off with whatever bikes they can get there hands on, after a while if your sure Triathlon is for you, you can then look at getting a second hand or entry level Triathlon Bike. Bikes are occasionally advertised on www.northernpulse.co.uk in the for sale section on here, some bargains can also be found on e-bay.

How do I enter this event? -top-


Is this event continuous? -top-
Yes, this was previously a non continuous event, due to a venue change it is now continuous.

What are the courses? -top-
Please refer to the course section on the website.

When will the presentation be?-top-
The presentation will be held as soon as the last runner finishes and all the times have been inputted.

When will the results be available? -top-
The results will be published on our website the same or the following day.

Can I appeal against the results? -top-
For a short time before the presentation the results will be pinned up, if you think a mistake has been made you must say so then, as in most cased results will not be altered after the presentation.

Will refreshments be available? -top
Limited refreshments in leisure centre.

How will the swim/bike transition work? -top-
The swim is held in the sports center pool you will then run approximately 200 meters to the transition area located at the school. You may leave a pair of trainers outside the swimming pool exit. No trainers will be permitted pool side.

What time does the event start? -top-
When you register for the sprint triathlon you will be asked a predicted swim time, your start time will depend on what time you give, a slower swimmer will start earlier than a faster swimmer. The time the first swimmer goes off varies from year to year depending on what time we can book the pool.

Yes, unlike our Junior Aquathon this event is continuous and will not have any breaks in each wave.

Is this event held on closed roads? -top-
Yes, Prissick Cycle track is a purpose build 1k tarmac circuit.

Where will the run go? -top-


How old do I have to be?

This event is open to children between the age of 8 and 16.

What type of bike do I need? -top-
Any road worthy bike can be used.

Is there parking? -top-
Yes the parking is free and a short walk away from the race HQ.

Is there toilets? -top-
Yes, toilets will be available on race day.

Will there be refreshments? -top-
No, there are no refreshments available unless it states otherwise in your race information. Please bring with you any drinks you will require during the race.

Not unless the race organiser decides to re-open the event to fill up withdrawal places. This will be advertised on the home page.

What do I do if I have not received my race information? -top-
Race information is not usually issued until shortly before the event, if it gets to within 3 days of the event use the information request link on the left hand menu bar.

Do I have to wear a wet suit? -top-
Yes, a wetsuit is mandatory for this event.

What facilities are available? -top-
Camping is available on the night before the event (caravans allowed), there is no need to book just turn up. There is a shower and toilet block. There will be a small charge for camping. Also very near to the camping site there is a café and shop.

What is the course? -top-
Please refer to the course map section on the website.

Is the bike course hard? -top-
The bike course is undulating.

When will the presentation be? -top-
The presentation will be a short time after the last person has completed the course.

Can I appeal against the results? -top-
The results will be pinned up for a short time before the presentation, this is your only chance to appeal to the race referee, after the event no changes can be made to the results.

Is drafting allowed?-top-
As this event is run in accordance to the BTF rules drafting is not permitted and a time penalty will be issued. You can not appeal against this. Here is a copy of the rules.

When will the results be available? -top-
The results will be published on our website the same or the following day.

Are dogs allowed at the venue? - return to menu-

The Steelman is hard event and would not be recommended for novices, however, people have competed this event as their first triathlon.

We can not guarantee there will be drinks provided as there is no official water source for our use. We can however obtain certain amounts of water from a local café and provide water stations where possible. It is in your best interests to make sure you have sufficient water with you to see you through the race. We have tables on the course where you can leave water bottle/food bars etc.

Are dogs allowed at the venue? -top-
Dogs on leads are welcome at all our events.

The event is full, what can I do? -top-
For this event you can be added to the reserve list. Go to www.trihard.co.uk, visit the "enter events" section, Click on Cleveland Steelman and enter as usual, when it comes to the paying section opt to pay be cheque (do not send one). You will be contacted if a place becomes available, you can then either pay by cheque or debit/credit card.

What type of run course is it? -top-
The run is a two lap course mostly off road. There is a map of the course in the course maps section of the website.

Your run time will taken when the last member of your team crosses the finish line, you will not be given individual times.

Will there be marshals? -top-
There will be marshals on all the turns, run and bike. However, it is the athletes responsibility to know the course, if you go wrong there will be no adjustments to times.

No, this event has a short break between the swim and the run, you must however listen carefully to instructions given at the race briefing as people have missed their start time before.

Due to limited space at our new venue parents can not watch the swim, we would also like to ask you don't block the entrance/exit to the pool.

The run will take place on a track close to the swimming pool.

There are public toilets available. No food or drink facilities.
